Sunday Night Football (of the preseason sort) started today. Which means August 4 is almost here. And single-game Seahawks tickets will go on sale.
Monday morning. 10 AM. I seriously can’t wait.
I’ve been waiting for this day since approximately September 4, 2007. Nothing – short of a crazy accident – will be getting in my way.
Which means my day will go something like this:
- 5:30 AM – Swim in the lake. Hope to NOT have an allergic reaction while trying to remember how many laps makes a half mile. Wonder (again) why I didn’t start training for the triathlon earlier. And also wonder why no one else wears their bathrobe to their early-morning swims.
- 6:45 AM – Get ready for work. Remember to pack veggies and apples for snacks. Gaze longingly at the T-bone steak waiting for me to cook it later. Block thoughts of fat content and how I should be eating top round or top sirloin rather than barbled yumminess.
- 7:50 AM - Consider staying home because the weather will be nice and I REALLY don’t want to miss out on Seahawks tickets.
- 8:15 AM – Ride the bus. Try not to spill coffee on my shirt. Check email and read the paper on my phone. Think about how much money is saved by choosing metro. Refuse (again) to consider time value of money and opportunity cost calculations related to my cheaper (but much slower) commute. Ponder viable excuses for leaving unexpectedly – should ticketmaster be blocked at work.
- 8:55 AM – Log into my computer. Glare at the spot where my gchat used to pop up. Think about all the other sites I can’t get to because of our lovely cost-saving initiatives. Try some new sites just to see if they’re blocked, too. Growl. Flare nostrils.
- 9:00 AM – Whine to my coworkers. Not sure about what yet. But I’m sure I’ll find something. Adjust the mood-o-meter to appropriate rating.
- 9:10 AM – Double check the ticketmaster site. Just to be sure I can get to it.
- 9:20 AM – Set an alarm on my phone for 9:55 AM. Send another small prayer of thanks to the gods at Apple for making iPhone alarms that sound like actual rings.
- 9:30 AM – Head to a meeting. Sit in a strategic location, so as to be able to check the clock constantly without appearing to check the clock constantly. Adjust seat height to be shorter, so that I have to look up at whomever sits below the clock.
- 9:55 AM – Appear surprised when my phone “rings.” Apologize, look regretful, and murmur something about “really needing to take this call.”
- 9:56 AM – Log back into computer. Log into ticketmaster site. Find appropriate game listing. Remind myself to not over-refresh. Watch the clocks on my computer, work phone, and cell phone. Wait for 10 AM.
- 10:00 AM – BUY TICKETS!!
- 10:03 AM – Text my brother with seat location and confirmation.
- 10:05 AM – Tell my coworkers about my ability (or lack thereof) to get tickets. Keep checking to see how long it takes for all the games to sell out.
Stay tuned….
Every day another story -
